From a classroom to a career: the new Ghany gate to the technological success

Uplifting communities through digital skill

The Chaormor Digital Lab, a project operated by Cisco Social Impact Partner Basics International, an example and results oriented. The basics provide education, food and health care for children in the Community of Chorkor and the surrounding areas in Ghana in Western Africa – helping the whole communities to step out of poverty. Their new laboratory is preparing schoolchildren insufficiently served students for dynamic careers in cyber security, networking and more. The Laboratory, supported by Cisco Networking Academy, and our program Grant Technology Grant offers a Center for Learning, Cooperation and Creativity, where students learn top skills to help them flourish in the digital economy.

Cisco Grant Grant provides our technology to qualifying for non -profit organizations to help them make meaningful profits in productivity, security, scalabibility and cost effective. For the Chaormor Laboratory, the technological grant was helpful in laying the base for the network academy.

Patrick Verret, who managed Grant Technology Grant, explains: “We have helped them create a secure and stable network for Cisco Networking Academy access, use other online teaching materials and work with others on the Internet.

Dreaming – A Works – Careers in Tech

The laboratory is already changing lives. “I wanted to do computer science, but I couldn’t have a shortage of it, because the fees you have to pay are very high. It has been my dream for so long,” said Joyce Banahene, trying to find a job as a network engineer when she follows her certification.

The Joy Adev student also felt inspired and absorbed: “I will work in any technology company. Probably Cisco, Apple, Samsung – any of them!”
